AML policy and large swaps
Privacy for normal people, no room for stolen money. This is how we keep swaps clean without asking for your passport.
How swaps are checked
- Before a swap exists. Every address is validated for format and network, and both addresses are screened before a deposit address is created.
- When the deposit arrives. Every deposit is screened against sanctions lists and databases of stolen and hacked funds.
- If something is flagged. You talk to a person at Swapea, not a ticket queue.
When a deposit is held
A small share of deposits are flagged, usually because the coins passed through a mixer, a sanctioned service or a hacked wallet at some point, often long before they reached you. The deposit may then need a short explanation of where the funds came from before it is released or refunded. Write to us with your swap ID and we handle it with you.
Limits
We set no upper limit on online swaps. Some coins have a network minimum, shown in the swap box. For $500,000 or more, our private desk gets you a better price and one person who handles your swap.
What we refuse
- Swaps involving addresses on sanctions lists.
- Funds connected to hacks, ransomware, scams or darknet markets.
- Splitting a large swap into small ones to avoid screening.
